Tamil Spell Checking Utility
Though entering files/documents in English language has been going on since the invention of computers, a standard English spell checker has been introduced only since the early 1990s. This utility has been helping immensely those who enter files/documents in English world over.
One of the ancient classical language in currency is Tamil. The rules for conjunction of letters and words have been coded quite a few thousands years back by early grammarians like Agasthiyar and Tholkappiyar. Their treatise on Tamil grammar and the later treatise on Tamil grammar called Nannool form the solid basis for Tamil Grammar. Though some software tools/utilities for Tamil spell checking have been introduced in the market, most of these software tools/utilities do not encompass the basic grammar rules applicable to conjunction of letters/words. These software tools/utilities have the facility to merely point out the spelling errors. Our Spell & Grammar checking software tool/utility has in-built basic grammar checking facility and it operates in micro seconds Viz, ¼ of a second.
Basic Grammar Checking
As earlier stated early Tamil grammarians like Agasthiyar and Tholkappiyar have laid down rules on grammar for letters, words and sentences. At present our software tool/utility can pinpoint the basic grammar mistakes by underlining with green (Wavy) as most of the current usages in Tamil are based on the grammar treatise called Nannool, we have incorporated the basic features of both Tholkappiyam and Nannool as at present our program deals with only prose and not with poetry.
Unicode Conversion (Organize all Tamil font[s])
Individuals and organizations have developed several Tamil fonts over the past several years. Whenever the file/document has to be read/downloaded/transferred/browse, the particular font used by the Operator/Author/Writer should be available at the other End. To overcome this deficiency Unicode system/structure was introduced / finalized around 1999. The above system/structure has been accepted world over for Tamil. The present structure available can be operated only on Operating Systems developed by year 2000 and Later. As many people still use Windows 98 / Win ME world over, this present Unicode systems/structure will not work on their OS. We have taken into account the larger usage of Win 98 / Win ME world over, and have developed our software, which will operate even on Win 98 / Win ME.
Special features of our software are
Document/file/data in any of the 52 fonts listed can be converted to Unicode or to any other font[s] the viewer like[s]/installed font in user system.
In addition, Unicode documents can be converted to any other font (52 Font[s]).
As our software operates in Microsoft Internet Explorer you may view/browse/surf without downloading the respective font[s].
As our software operates in Microsoft Office (97, 2000, Xp, 2003), you may convert any or all font[s] to Unicode without changing the formatting.
As earlier stated we have established a two way Traffic (To Unicode->Any Font->Unicode). This conversion facility can be used even on earlier/old completed/finished documents/data/files with batch conversion utility.
All the above operations are accomplished in microseconds ( ¼ of a Second).
Indian Language Transliteration
Most of us mother tongue is Tamil also have some proficiency in some other Indian language[s] , and are able to understand/converse in those language[s], without any knowledge of reading the scripts in those languages.
We will be able to understand and enjoy the writings in such Languages if the text is transliterated into the language of our knowing we have developed our software for Transliterating texts in 9 Indian Languages which are supported by Unicode System.
English Tamil Dictionary
These days it is quite common to see the usage of English words and Sentences in Tamil texts. English/Tamil Dictionary, of course is available in Digital Form. we have devised our product which enables the User to view/Insert the Tamil Meaning/Translation of those words/Sentences In English within the Microsoft Office Products Panel and also through External Program View. Further, our facility can be used even in Microsoft Internet Explorer. Apart from the above feature, there is English-Tamil Dictionary available in standalone mode/ Separated Mode.
